JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Principal

LOCATION: Riverdale Grade School

CONTRACT DAYS: 230 days per year

SALARY: $127,275.28 - $137,766.90 (2024-25)

The Riverdale School District is encouraging exceptional candidates to apply for the position of Grade School Principal. The person in this position will provide instructional leadership to the entire school community. Essential duties include the following:

  • Leading the RGS Equity and Inclusion Team;
  • Implementing District policies and regulations, as well as a strong working knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement State and federal requirements related to Common Core State Standards and Coalition of Essential Schools;
  • Developing and implementing activities that encourage strong academic programs;
  • Contributing to student achievement through data-driven decision-making and effective leadership skills;
  • Directing effective staff development to ensure quality instruction and educational programming;
  • Working with a variety of parent, staff, and community committees to achieve a strong coordinated and cooperative working relationship that is student outcome focused;
  • Ensuring a positive learning environment by establishing and maintaining appropriate behavioral expectations and standards for students; this will include the continued implementation of PBIS;
  • Providing leadership to staff, parents, and students on all aspects of school improvement;
  • Demonstrating a strong knowledge of and commitment to working with students of all abilities, including Special Education and Talented and Gifted programs;
  • Supporting all school programs, including athletics, clubs and other student organizations, extensions of classroom learning, and the like;
  • Hiring, assigning, retaining, and evaluating all classified, certified, and adjunct faculty and staff;
  • Communicating with all school and community stakeholders through multiple mediums;
  • Contributing to effective school programs by participating in professional conferences, training, and readings; and
  • Manage the Grade School building budget and ensure district purchasing practices are followed.

Minimum Required Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications

  • Administrative Credential through Oregon TSPC or eligibility to obtain one
  • Master’s degree in Education
  • 5 or more years of successful teaching experience

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications

  • Previous Administrative experience preferred
  • Experience in Special Education & Talented and Gifted Programs preferred
  • Experience working with diverse student populations preferred
  • Experience with district Equity Initiatives preferred
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Cards preferred
