Case Conference Coordinator Jobs in Illinois
A Case Conference Coordinator in school administration is responsible for overseeing and organizing meetings where the educational needs of a student, typically with exceptionalities or special needs, are discussed and planned. They ensure that all relevant parties, such as teachers, parents, school psychologists, speech therapists, and other professionals, are present and contribute to the development of an effective Individualized Education Program (IEP). They also ensure that all procedures and decisions comply with federal and state regulations. They facilitate communication, mediate disagreements, and work to build consensus among team members.
The Case Conference Coordinator must have excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Having a background in education and a thorough understanding of special education laws and practices is crucial. Key certifications include a state teaching license and often special education certification or endorsements. They may also need to complete coursework in areas such as special education law, behavioral intervention strategies, and assessment techniques. Before becoming a Case Conference Coordinator, one might serve in roles such as a Special Education Teacher, School Counselor, or School Psychologist.
